Commuter Stairs Restoration Project Update - July 11, 2022

Due to a generous grant from New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins renovations to the Commuter Stairs that run from the Steinschneider Parking Lot to Southside Ave. have begun. The project is expected to take approximately one month, and the stairs will be closed to pedestrians during that time.

The project includes the removal and construction of steel handrails, the replacement of reinforced concrete steps (from Con Ed parking lot to first landing pad), and the removal and replacement of the asphalt landing pads.

Below you can see that the stairs to the Con Ed lot have been removed and the beginnings of the forms for construction of the stairs is underway.
