Applying for a Street Opening Permit

Please click HERE for the Street Opening Form. Fill it out, sign it electronically and attach a copy of a survey or a drawing showing where the work will be done. The permit cannot be processed without the attachment. A permit fee of $200 and a deposit fee of $250 plus a non-refundable convenience fee will be applied when you complete your permit application. You MUST have a dig safely # on the form or it cannot be processed. After you submit the form with the attached survey or drawing, it automatically goes to the DPW Superintendent for their review. If it is approved, they will sign it electronically which then forwards it to the Village Clerk for their electronic signature, then it goes to the DPW Secretary. Once the Secretary receives the signed form and the survey or drawing, they will contact you to tell you that you can proceed with the job and they will also email you a copy of the signed permit.

Once the job has been completed and the street and/or sidewalk has been closed up, you will need to notify the Secretary to the DPW at 914-478-2170 so they can notify the DPW Superintendent so they can do an inspection before a refund check for the deposit can be issued. The company name that is put on the form as the “Applicant” will be the name that the refund check will be made payable to and the address will be where the refund check is mailed to. The refund check MUST be made payable to the company, not an individual.
