As you may be aware the Village received a grant through Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins’ office to renovate the Commuter Stairs running from the Steinschneider Parking Lot to Southside Ave. Paladino Concrete Creations Corp. ("Paladino") was awarded the contract for the work.
The project includes the removal and construction of steel handrails, the replacement of reinforced concrete steps (from Con Ed parking lot to first landing pad), and the removal and replacement of the asphalt landing pads.
Work will begin after the 4th of July Holiday on July 5. The stairs will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the work which is estimated to be one month.
The contractor will be using 2 or 3 spaces in the Con Ed parking lot as a construction staging area. The spaces identified are located adjacent to the side entrance to the Commuter Stairs away from Maud’s Tavern restaurant. Paladino will use the lower parking lot area entrance to deliver concrete, asphalt and other materials to the site.
Below is a picture of the stairs leading to the Con Ed Lot which will be replaced.
The broken hand rail will be replaced and brought up to the proper height.
This photo shows the slope on the landing pad which will be corrected and made level.
Regards and Happy 4th of July to All!
