What to do to prepare for High Winds
 - To prepare for a possible power outage, make sure cell phone batteries are charged, gather supplies, and turn refrigerators and freezers to a colder setting.
 - If you are a property owner, builder, contractor, and/or crane operator, secure your construction site(s), building(s), and equipment.
 - Bring inside loose, lightweight objects such as lawn furniture, potted plants, garbage cans, garden tools, and toys.
 - Anchor objects that would be unsafe outside, such as gas grills or propane tanks.
 - Close up and secure patio umbrellas.
 - Secure retractable awnings.
 
What to do to prepare for Flash Flooding 
 - Be alert to changing weather conditions and be ready to move to higher ground.
 - Consider postponing outdoor activities.
 - Tie down or bring in outdoor objects (patio furniture, children's toys, trash cans, etc.) that could be swept away or damaged during flooding.
 - Consider unplugging sensitive electronic equipment before flooding occurs. But, do not touch electrical equipment if you are wet or standing in water.
 - Elevate items stored in your basement to prevent damage. If you have a sump pump, check that it is working.
 - Consider clearing street catch basins to prevent or reduce street flooding.
 - Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, creeks, or other areas prone to flooding during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood rapidly and with little warning.
 
FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM EST THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
* WHERE...Southern Westchester.
* WHEN...From 10 PM EST this evening through Saturday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Another deepening low will track up through the Great Lakes tonight, sending a strong frontal system through the area. Moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall will fall across the area with a widespread 1.5 to to 2.5 inches of rainfall, with locally higher amounts possible. Due to the recent heavy rainfall event, streamflow is high and grounds are saturated.Quick responding rivers and streams will likely reach or exceed bankfull. In addition, coastal flooding will likely exacerbate flooding on tidal rivers. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
 
WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO6 AM EST SATURDAY
* WHAT...Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 6 AM EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON
Friday Night: Rain likely, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature rising to around 51 by 5am. Breezy, with an east wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of rain. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature rising to near 55 by 9am, then falling to around 42 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 23 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 30. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Sunday: Scattered rain and snow showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Southwest wind 10 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday Night: Scattered rain and snow showers before 8pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 20. West wind 8 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
