Chemka Pool Restoration Update - February 24, 2023
Dear Residents:
Work at the pool has been proceeding on or ahead of schedule. The regrading to remove the steep driveway down which stormwater flowed into the pumproom and the enclosed staircase to the pumproom is scheduled to be completed by next week. Photographs below show the progress since I last reported. You may recall that the original schedule called for this work to continue through March. Our contractor, Jennosa Pools Inc. has taken advantage of fair weather and was able to complete this work much sooner that originally scheduled.
The electricians are currently on site building the rack to support electrical panels and doing other preparation work in anticipation of installing the remainder of the electrical equipment. Jennosa, the Rimkunas Engineering met on site this morning to discuss the preparation work for the installation of the chemical control systems and that work is starting today, Friday, February 24. This includes installation of flow meters, tubing, valves, and other preparation work that precedes the installation of the UV filter, control panels and pumps. Weather permitting, the concrete driveway, sidewalk and chemical storage pit work will start next week or as soon as the temperature permits. This work was originally anticipated to begin in late March.
As previously stated, in late March the electrical inspection will occur, and the pool mechanical equipment will be installed. Pool start-up is scheduled for early April with a DOH inspection in mid-April and operator training to follow. The pool should be ready by May 1. Opening date to public is scheduled for May 27.
Below are a series of photos showing the regrading of the driveway and the building of the stairs to protect the pump room from stormwater runoff.
The photos below were taken on January 24, 2023 and show the rebar being prepared for the footings that will be poured for the staircase to be built into the pumproom.
The photos below were taken on January 25, 2023. The contractor had begun to pour the footings for the driveway and stairs that will protect the pump room from flooding. Heat blankets had been laid over the cement to keep it at the right temperature for curing.

Backfill. grade and installation of the chlorine collection ring occurred on Tuesday Jan. 31. See photos below.
Photos below taken of February 2 are of the contractor pouring the stairs and the column that will support the entry to the stairs.

Photo below was taken on Friday, February 24 and shows the siding installation nearly complete.
The timeline for the pool restoration of the pump room electrical and mechanical equipment and the completion date has not changed. We will keep you posted on the progress of the work as we all look forward to summer and the re-opening of Chemka Pool.
