COVID-19 PROTOCOLS UPDATE
 
Dear Residents and Staff:
Please be advised that in the context of the evolving situation surrounding the COVID–19 pandemic the Village has revised temporary protocols for access to Village services as follows:  We continue to recommend that everyone observe personal protection practices found here such as wearing a mask, social distancing, hand washing, sneezing or coughing into a disposable tissue and avoiding crowds whenever possible.
 
  1. APPLICATION.  The protocols apply to staff, board and committee members and the general public effective Wednesday January 5, 2022 through Friday January 28, 2022 unless otherwise indicated. The time frame will be extended or decreased as circumstances require.
  1. PUBLIC ACCESS.  All non-essential visits to indoor Village offices and facilities should be postponed. Where access is necessary MASKS MUST BE WORN.
 
  1. JHCC, P&R and COMMUNITY SERVICES PROGRAMS.     Access to the James Harmon Community Center will be limited.  Please consider whether you can accomplish your business by phone or e-mail.  The JHCC will be open for the purpose of picking up masks and covid test kits (when available) and for vaccination clinics.  The Food Pantry will continue to operate by appointment.  After school homework help will continue through the Youth Center.  All other events and programs are temporarily discontinued unless an exception is deemed appropriate.  There will be: 
    1. No rentals of the community room. P&R contact info here.
    2. No drop-in program for youth on weekdays or weekends. Youth Advocate contact info here.
    3. No Senior exercise or Bingo. Senior Advocate contact info here.
    4. Senior trips to the grocery store will continue two times per week.
    5. The Food Pantry is available by appointment.  Please call 478-2471.
    6. Youth Employment services is available by e-mailing Iturbej@HOHschools.org.
    7. The P&R Department and Community Services will continue to be staffed,  however, residents and others having business with P&R and Community Services are asked to call or e-mail rather than personally coming in whenever possible.  Information about P&R and on-line registration and services can be found here.
 
  1. Village Hall
Access to Village Hall will be limited. The building will be locked and access where necessary will be by appointment only.  Please consider whether you can accomplish your business by phone or e-mail.  Residents and others having business with the offices of the Village Clerk, Building Inspector, Police Department, Village Manager, Treasurer and Court Clerk are asked to call or e-mail the respective office rather than personally coming to Village Hall whenever possible. The departments in Village Hall will operate as follows:
  1. POLICE DEPARTMENT. Police Department will continue to operate in the Village Hall. Contact and other Information about the PD can be found here.
  2. VILLAGE CLERK’S OFFICE. The Village Clerk’s Office will continue to operate in the Village Hall.  Notary services, parking stickers and handicap stickers should be accomplished remotely or postponed whenever possible. Contact and other information about the Clerk’s Office and online resources can be found here.
  3. BUILDING DEPARTMENT. The Building Department will continue to operate in the Village Hall. Building Dept. inspections will continue unless there is a situation requiring postponement. The Building Department will have a drop-off bin at Village Hall where plans and applications can be submitted.  Call or e-mail if you need to speak with the Building Inspector or his staff.  Contact and other Information and on-line resources about the Building Department can be found here.
  4. JUSTICE COURT and TRAFFIC TICKETS. The Court Office will continue to operate in the Village Hall pending other directives from the Unified Court System. The Court will practice social distancing and handle adjournments on a case-by-case basis. Contact and other information about the Court, online ticket payments etc. can be found here.
  5. VILLAGE MANAGER. The Managers office will continue to operate in the Village Hall. Contact and other information for the Village Manager can be found here.
  6. TREASURER. The Treasurer’s office will continue to operate in Village Hall. Contact and other information about the Treasurer Department can be found here,
  1. DPW.  The DPW will continue to operate from the DPW facility.  Contact and other information about the DPW and online resources can be found here. 
  1. VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. HVFD will continue to operate from the Fire Houses and Ambulance Building.  Information about the VFD can be found here.
  1. LIBRARY.     As of  Thursday, January 6th until Friday, January 28th the Library will operate as follows:
  1. curbside delivery—patrons can call in to reserve a book from the collection and it will be put on the cart by the door.
  2. patrons who have books on hold can also call and we’ll check out their holds and put them on the cart.
  3. Patrons can come in and browse briefly for a book and check it out.
  4. Public computers will not be available.
  5. Seating will not be available.
  6. Study rooms will not be available.
  7. All in-person programming and use of meeting rooms will be cancelled.
  8. Some programming will go virtual while others will be postponed until we can gather in-person.

  1. TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT. The Technology Department will be issuing notices 24/7 as usual to keep the public informed of any changes and necessary updated information via Email, Facebook and Twitter. WHoH-TV Cablevision channel 75 and FIOS 43 will be broadcasting Hastings Government & Community News as well as Hastings School District Channel 77 and FIOS 27 will be broadcasting Hastings School District News.  Go to WHOH-TV.org on the internet to view all programs  
   
  1. PUBLIC MEETINGS
Public Meetings will continue by Zoom for as long as NYS allows such process to continue.  Schedules and cancellations can be found on the Village website here.
 
  1. REVIEW. 
These protocols will be reviewed and adjusted as necessary to address the evolving situation and direction from other levels of government.
