TRADITION!!

It’s what we now know to be part of SHARE the Project’s history.

In 2020, the world nearly fell apart - and with it, many of the experiences, events, and connections that brought us together. Though we were able to maintain a version of our Dinner through mobile outreach and delivery of 1,000 Thanksgiving meals, we knew then, as we know now, that something was missing.

On November 22nd, SHARE the Project will host our 33rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless, AT Hastings High School. Then, in December, we will celebrate 35 years of service to our greater community.

SHARE's Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless is a time-honored tradition. What began as an “intimate” dinner for 150 homeless friends of ours 33 years ago has blossomed into an 800 guest event run by over 250 student and adult volunteers. We act on behalf of those who can't advocate for themselves, who have lost all but the last remnants of hope.
In the past, we broke bread with hundreds of our friends from the streets and from shelters in all five boroughs in New York City and Westchester County. Our guests look forward to something different, whether the fist-sized jumbo turkey legs, the handmade apple & pumpkin pies, the donated stuffed animals and children’s books, face-painting for our littlest guests or live music in our festive decorated gym.

Stats
Over the past 34 years, our kids in SHARE have prepared and served not only 22,000 pounds of turkey at the Dinner, but during our monthly outreach programs in NYC:
- Well over 100,000 bagged lunches
- Nearly 30,000 cups of coffee
- Over 5,000 hot dogs on the hot dog runs
- Nearly 30,000 cups of soup or chili

From all of us to all of you, we wish you a Thanksgiving filled with peace, happiness and good health abounding.
