Mayor’s Message:– Used Book Sale Continues, the Flea, Jazz, Village-Wide Tag Sale and Historical Society Happenings!

Mayor
Dear everyone,

There is lots going this weekend, some events are a holdover due to rain cancellations last weekend and some are entirely new, so check out what’s on offer.

Library Book Sale Extended – TODAY: September 17, till 2 pm, inside the Library
If you were unable to visit the used book sale last weekend it’s been extended till today at 2 pm.  There are still many delightful books waiting for you to select them – and, as you choose gems to round out your own collection, you’ll be supporting one of the Village’s most beloved institutions (proceeds support the library). Thanks to everyone involved in bringing back this lovely event for all of us each fall. For more about our library see HERE, and to learn how you can become a “Friend of the Library” see HERE.

Hastings Flea – TOMORROW: September 18, 10 am to 4 pm, Metro North Parking Lot
Since the flea was cut short last weekend due to rain, it’s back again tomorrow, Sunday, September 18th in the Metro North Commuter Parking Lot from 10 am to 4 pm. The Hastings Flea features vendors sharing home goods, collectibles, crafts, jewelry, clothing, records, candles and much more! Come shop, dig for finds, connect with the community and/or join an acoustic jam led by Matt Turk starting at 12 pm. To find out more see HERE.

Hastings On Jazz – TOMORROW: September 18, 3 to 5:30 pm, VFW Plaza
Also tomorrow, don’t miss the last Hastings On Jazz show of the season. Hastings On Jazz (see HERE) is a weekly concert series that has taken place at the VFW Plaza on Warburton Avenue every Sunday from June through September this year. It is brought to us by the David Janeway Quartet and has included guest appearances by many internationally acclaimed musicians. Last week the show was rained out, so take advantage of this final opportunity for free music from amazing artists right here in the Village! The musicians will be playing from 3 to 5:30 pm, so bring a blanket, a picnic, grab ice-cream from Penny Lick, or visit the hot dog stand, and enjoy the show!

Village-Wide Tag Sale September 24, 10 to 4 pm, everywhere!
The annual Village-Wide Tag Sale is back and will take place on September 24th (see HERE for more information). The deadline to sign up was yesterday but if you missed it Lisa O’Reilly from our Parks and Recreation Commission assures me she will include you if you get your application in on Monday by 4 pm.
