HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief David A. Dosin
Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department
7 Maple Ave
Hastings on Hudson, N.Y. 10706
The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson Police Department is receiving an increase of complaints from residents regarding unemployment insurance fraud. The New York State Department of Labor stated that criminals are using the identities of New Yorkers that were likely stolen during previous data breaches. The criminals then file fraudulent claims and illegally collect benefits in the name of individuals who are not unemployed.
Residents who receive a letter from the New York State Department of Labor and have not filed for unemployment benefits, could be the victim of unemployment insurance fraud. If this has happened to you, please report it here
The New York State Department of Labor also encourages residents to check their bank accounts regularly to ensure no one is collecting benefits on your behalf.
For further information residents are welcome to contact the New York State Department of Labor’s hotline at 888-598-2077.
Thank you and please stay safe
