Community Choice Aggregation

If your household did not opt out of this program, you belong! You are purchasing electricity through a bulk-purchase plan which has been negotiated on your behalf by Westchester Power, serving Hastings and 27 other communities in Westchester County. Hastings selected the green power option, which means your bill pays for electricity from renwable sources at a rate cheaper than what you could buy individually.

In 2015, Sustainable Westchester obtained approval for the first Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program to be established under Governor Cuomo’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) plan. The creation of Westchester Power gave participating municipalities the ability to pool their resources to purchase energy in bulk, at less expensive rates, and to choose power from 100% clean, renewable sources. Westchester Power is a program of Sustainable Westchester. Residents were automatically enrolled unless they opted out. Residents can opt out with no penalty at any time. Companies have sollictited area homeowners with competing offers with low, introductory rates. Review all competing offers carefully, as hidden fees and ballooning rate changes may apply.

EnergySmart Homes

EnergySmart Homes, formerly HeatSmart, educates communities on the purchase of air- and ground-source (geothermal) heat pump systems, energy efficiency retrofits, and home energy audits. Hastingsites can take advantage of the information and contractors that this program identifies, and NYS continues to offer incentives to homeowners to electrify and save energy.

If you can't put panels on your own roof, you can still purchase solar power through Community Solar. Simply by signing up, you dedicate your electricity bill to an area solar farm. In exchange, ConEd rebates you 10% of your electricity bill. Click the link or logo for more info. This program is run by Sustainable Westchester and administered by Abundant Efficiency.
