Applying for a Solar Permit

For a Solar permit, it MUST state in the description of the application how many kilowatts it's going to be. We need 3 sets of plans signed and sealed with the original signature signed across the seal and a copy of the contractor's home improvement license, certificate of liability and workers comp (both showing us additionally insured on it). Both the Solar Checklist** and the Solar Permit Affidavit need to be printed, filled out and signed with an original signature. The Solar Permit Affidavit also needs to be notarized. You will also need to apply for an electrical permit application.

We MUST have all the paperwork when submitting it to the Building Dept. or we CANNOT accept it.

The fees for Solar permits are as follows:

$300 up to 5 kilowatts
$550 above 5 kilowatts but less than 10
$800 above 10 kilowatts but less than 20
$250 for each additional 10 kilowatts
$50 for the Certificate of Completion and there’s also an application fee that is based on the estimated cost of the job.

Once the job has been completed, the Statement of Final Cost form will need to be filled out, notarized, and returned to the Building Dept. before a final inspection can be done.

**Until we can get the following Solar form corrected, please note this change:

On the “Solar Checklist” for #1 where it says to apply online for a “Building Permit”, that is incorrect. You need to apply for a “Solar Permit”.
