Main St. and Warburton Ave. Paving Project July 14, 2022 Update
As many residents are aware the Village is scheduled to start a sidewalk replacement project in the downtown on the south side of Main St. from Slices to Warburton Ave. and on the west side of Warburton Ave from Main St. to Spring St. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 18 and will continue into the fall.
The project includes replacement of the existing sidewalk, trees and tree pits, and the installation of new low-carbon concrete sidewalks from the existing granite curb to buildings. Larger tree pits with inset grates and permeable hexagonal paving stones to allow for water infiltration and walkability are included. Replacement trees will be native species suitable for downtown planting.
Street parking may be affected and notice to the public will go out in advance for the locations affected. The Village will allow 4 spaces for construction staging in the Steinschneider lot. The spaces are located directly across from the charging station.
Additional sidewalk on the east side of Warburton Ave. in front of the northern portion of VFW park will also be installed where the sidewalk is severely damaged.
Periodic updates for the public and local businesses will occur.
The photos below depict damaged sidewalk sections and the damaged red bomanite which will be removed and replaced with concrete sidewalk.
Below is a photo of the cramped tree pits that exist currently.
They are too small for the roots of the trees.
The new tree pits will be enlarged and modified to better accommodate a healthy growing environment for trees.
