CHEMKA POOL UPDATE AND HILLSIDE WOODS & PARK STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS
SEPTEMBER 27, 2022
CHEMKA POOL UPDATE
Starting the week of September 26th Jennosa Pools Inc. will install construction fencing for safety at the pool while the restoration work is underway. A dumpster for demolition debris was located there today. The electrical demolition at the pool will also start on Monday as will pressure testing for leaks in the pool pipes.
HILLSIDE WOODS & PARK STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS
As you know the Village went to bid for restoration work in and around Scheckler’s Brook in Hillside Park and the Board of Trustees awarded the contract at the August 16th meeting. Bradhurst Construction will be starting the restoration and improvement of the stormwater system in Hillside Park from the Sugar Pond to the Pool on or about September 26, 2022. The plans can be viewed here.
The work includes the following:
The western side of the dam to Sugar Pond will be repaired with grouted stone riprap.
The culvert directly south of Sugar Pond will be replaced with a larger culvert (bridge) for continued access to the Hillside Loop Trail and the school. The culvert between the Tennis Courts and the (new) bridge will be daylighted.
Drainage piping east of the tennis courts will be replaced with larger pipes to accommodate larger storms. An underdrain will be installed at the northeast corner of the tennis courts, to help drain that already wet area, as well as catch additional runoff down the trail.
Additional drainage will be added along the southern curb of the Chemka Pool Parking lot and the curb will be restored.
The severely eroded slopes between the parking lot and the pool will be restored.
An underdrain will be installed in the northwest grassy area of the pool complex to keep that area less wet.
The sidewalk leading up to the Pool will be replaced with low carbon concrete sidewalk.
Below are some photos of some of the damage being repaired:
The photo below shows the damage to the left side of the Sugar Pond dam which will be repaired.
The two photos below show the damaged curb and eroded slope between the pool and the parking lot.

Very truly yours,
