Ravensdale Bridge Update - December 1, 2021

 

 

 

 

 

During the Thanksgiving week, Ecco III placed the final top course of asphalt on Ravensdale Road between the two bridge approaches and at the intersections with South Stanley Ave, Clinton Ave and South Clinton Ave. 

 

Here is a view looking east prior to the placement of the final top course.  With the final placement, what was a bump between the asphalt roadway and the concrete bridge is now a smooth transition.  Note the temporary asphalt sidewalk at the corner:

 

The final sidewalks are poured concrete with non-slip traction plates at the crosswalks.  Note that the curbs were still high compared to the roadbed to make room for the final top course:

 

Top final course is shown here applied—note the relatively smooth transition from the sidewalk "landing pad" and the asphalt street surface:

 

Similarly, only a few weeks ago, South Stanley Avenue was inaccessible:

 

The roadbed was compacted:

 

The curbs poured:

 

And the final asphalt course placed:

 

 

South Clinton Avenue is reconnected:

 

On the north side of the bridge, Ecco III placed a berm to better shield the houses on Stanley Avenue from the Sawmill River Parkway.  The berm has been planted with a mix of evergreens and native pollinator trees and grasses:

 

With the bulk of the work done, ECCO III will now break down their material storage area on the east side of the Parkway, and straighten and replant the South County Trail:

 

By mid-December they expect to be effectively complete!
