Project Management and Administrative Assistance
Hastings-on-Hudson Waterfront Rezoning Committee
 
The Board of Trustees of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson has appointed a Waterfront Rezoning Committee (“WRC”) to assist it in creating a new zone for the Waterfront property located west of the railroad tracks and currently zoned General Industrial (GI). The WRC will first engage in a planning exercise to determine a preliminary master plan for the waterfront property and then recommend appropriate zoning for the site. Work will also include determining how to include developers in the process, as well as carrying out an environmental impact analysis. 
 
The Board of Trustees and the Waterfront Rezoning Committee are seeking an individual to provide part-time project management and administrative assistance to the committee over the course of this estimated two-year project.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The part-time project manager’s responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
 
  1. Administrative
  • Attendance at monthly meetings of the WRC
  • Organization and distribution of materials to committee members prior to meetings
  • Minute taking at meetings
  • Scheduling of meetings and venue selection
  • Timely posting of minutes and agendas, with the help of village staff
  • Management of email correspondence
     
    2. Project Management (in coordination with Village Manager)
  • Posting of RFP for consultants and correspondence related to RFP
  • Assisting Village Manager with administration of contract with consultant
  • Correspondence with consultants re. contract administration, scheduling, and other administrative tasks.
  • Support Committee members with in working groups and tracking follow ups
     
    3. Community Engagement
  • Outreach to community (e.g. email blasts, website, invitations to key stakeholders and village staff, etc.)
  • Plan and support community workshops, interviews or focus groups
  • Secure venues and refreshments for community workshops
     
     
    HOURS
    The project manager’s hours will vary month-to-month, but are estimated at between 10 and 30 hours a month. The project manager should be available for nighttime meetings, should be able to undertake tasks during business hours, and may have to attend some weekend meetings (e.g. a community workshop on a Saturday).
     
    COMPENSATION
    The project manager will be compensated at an hourly rate commensurate with experience, within the range of $30 to $50 per hour.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS
    Candidates must have good organizational and communication skills. Desirable, but not required, is a background in one or more of the following:
  • Urban planning
  • Project management
  • Real estate development or management
  • Public relations
  • Event planning
