Plant a Tree This Weekend with the Conservation Commission

Hands-on help for the environment!
Please join us this Saturday, Oct. 16, anytime 8:30am-2:30pm, and plant a tree on Farragut Parkway. Supervised kids are welcome. Teens can receive service hour credits.

This project is made possible by a grant from NYS DEC' Trees for Tribs program. Small streams exert a critical influence on downstream rivers by providing habitat, migration corridors, and connectivity on a watershed-scale, and by retaining or transmitting sediment and nutrients. The brook along Farragut Parkway is sorely eroded and this restoration will help water quality in the Saw Mill and Hudson Rivers, not to mention reduce flooding and make this area of Hastings generally more ecologically sound. More info on the Farragut Parkway project
