Mayor's Message:FNL Lights up the Night and the Village Crawl (tonight!!!), Rivertowns Chamber holiday trolley, RiverArts, the various incarnations of Santa and other fun stuff!

Dear Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and that you are rested and ready for the amazing range of activities we have in store for December.

FNL Lights up the Night: December 6, JHCC, 6 pm (tonight!)
================================================
This year our annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony is extra-special because our nine trees are live and will be planted in Hillside woods after the holiday season has passed. This idea is the brainchild of our very own Lisa O’Reilly, of the Parks and Recreation Department, so please thank her if you see her around town. Join us at 6 pm outside the James Harmon Community Center to light up the night!

Village Crawl: December 6, all over the Village, 6 to 10 pm (tonight!)
========================================================
Tonight is our annual Village Crawl, and thanks to our Downtown Advocate more businesses than ever will be participating. The basic concept is that you get 5 boarding passes for $20 and can use them at any of the participating businesses for appetizers, desserts, and/or drinks. Most of the merchants are establishments that sell food but this year Mossy Fern is offering a cactus in return for a pass – who can resist that! Also, the Upstream Gallery and In2Green are both staying open late, and Upstream is offering a free pass to the first 25 people who pop in and In2Green is offering Prosecco, nibbles and 15% off all night. As an added bonus, 25% of all boarding pass sales go to the Hastings Food Pantry to benefit local families in need. If you haven’t yet picked up your passes, they are still on sale at the places noted on the pass (the Municipal Building, the JHCC, and Suburban Renewal). There will also be some available at the tree lighting. Invite your friends and family for a memorable night in downtown HoH!

Rivertowns Chamber Holiday Trolley Comes to Hastings: December 7
=========================================================
The Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce is hosting the second annual Holiday Trolley and Winter Walk on Saturday, December 7th. The Trolley will run through Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, and Hastings-on-Hudson and will be used to transport shoppers between the villages from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm. Festive activities and pop-ups are planned for each village – downtown businesses and community organizations will showcase the best of local art, music, crafts and food.

Fire Department Christmas Trees: December 7, American Legion, 12 pm on
=====================================================================
The Fire Department will be selling trees this Saturday at the American Legion on Farragut Avenue from 10 am to 7 pm. Trees will also be available from 4 to 8 pm on weekdays, as long as weather conditions allow, and until the trees are sold out. Drop by the American Legion before they are all gone! All proceeds benefit the Fire Department.  In breaking news apparently trees will be sold at the FNL light up the night tonight and will be delivered to your door!

Annual Library Giftique and Bake Sale: December 7 & 8, Library
========================================================
Our Hastings Public Library hosts a delightful annual giftique and bake sale where you can pick up the perfect item for everyone in the family and support the Friends of the Library at the same time.  See here for details.

RiverArts Holiday Concert: December 8, Cropsey Foundation, 1 pm
========================================================
This coming Sunday RiverArts will host an all-star lineup of musicians from the Rivertowns performing early compositions by Antonin Dvořák, as well as grammy Award-winning jazz bassist, John Patitucci. RiverArts is committed to encouraging, cultivating, and promoting the arts and arts education in the Rivertowns. Tickets must be purchased in advance. There will be NONE at the door. Refreshments will be served (for more information and to get tickets see here).

The Various Incarnations of Santa
============================
There are lots of ways to support Santa’s gift giving and spread the love in the Village this holiday season:
  • The Mill’s Toy Drive is on December 9th from 6 to 9 pm – bring a new unwrapped gift and listen to Chris Conte’s Holiday Trio as you get into the spirit of the season.
  • Our own Police Department have a special in with Santa and have organized for him to come and visit Harvest on Hudson (1 River Street near MacEachron Park) on Saturday December 14th from 9 am to 11 am for breakfast!  Santa arrives at 9:30 am, kids can have their photo taken with him and everyone is encouraged bring a gift for a child in need.
  • Family-to-Family is collecting unwrapped toys and books for children between 3 and 18, along with wrapping paper and ribbons. All the gifts go to struggling families right here in Hastings. You can drop your items off at their office (located at 416 Warburton Avenue, across from Antoinette's) Monday to Friday 10 to 5 pm.
  • Toys for Tots - Westchester ensures that thousands of less fortunate children across Westchester get a gift this Christmas. Santa is welcoming donations to help deliver the joy of Christmas to those children who would otherwise go without. www.t4twestchester.org/donate. You can also drop a new, unwrapped toy at the Hastings Police Station, Village Hall, Community Center or Divino Cucina Italiana downtown (thanks to the Topilynycky family for ensuring this lovely tradition continues each year).
Shop Local: all month (and always!)
