American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course 
Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
Course completion requirements:  pass pre-requisite swim evaluation, complete all online learning assignments (approximately 7 hours worth of online study), participate in all in-person training sessions, demonstrate competency in all skills, complete all assignments, pass final written exam with 80% or higher.  Successful candidates will earn a completion certificate indicating Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years.  Note:  NY State requires that lifeguards renew their CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer every 12 months.

Dates/Times of In-Person Training Sessions (must attend all):

June 24 (Sun) -  10am - 4pm

June 26 (Tues) - 3pm - 8pm

June 27 (Wed) - 3pm - 8pm

June 28 (Thu) -  3pm - 8pm

June 29 (Fri) -     3pm - 8pm


Pre-Requisite Swim Skill Evaluation Dates/Times (attend one):

June 9 (Sat)-9:30am-10am OR June 23 (Sat) -9:30am-10am OR June 24 (Sun) -9:30am-10am



At least 15 years of age by last scheduled class;

Pass pre-requisite swim skill evaluation that includes: 300 yards continuous swim;   2 minute tread just kick;  timed brick retrieval (swim 20 yds, submerge 7-10' to retrieve 10 lb brick, return to surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to starting point, exiting the water without using  ladder/steps). 


Register by June 15th to allow ample time to complete eLearning portion of the course.
