Fellow residents,
We are pleased to report that last night, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved a franchise agreement with Verizon for the provision of FIOS TV service to our village. The agreement now goes off to the NY Public Service Commission for certification. If certified, Hastings residents will be able to subscribe to FIOS TV by the end of the summer. This agreement will finally provide all residents with a choice of cable providers.
As part of the agreement, Verizon will finish building out its fiber-optic network in Hastings, provide the Village with an advance payment of $25,000 on certain fees the village would collect over the next few years, provide free FIOS TV access to the schools ,fire stations, and village offices and, finally, provide dedicated channels for the display of local government and school-related programming.
We will update you if and when the franchise is certified by the Public Services Commission some time later this summer and provide you then with a date certain as to when the FIOS TV service will be available to new subscribers.
Sincerely,
Peter Swiderski, Mayor
Nicola Armacost, Trustee
Bruce Jennings, Trustee
Jerry Quinlan, Trustee
Meg Walker, Trustee
