Final Update on storm aftermath - Friday noon, March 19
Residents,

A full week after the wind storm literally tore through our community, we are almost fully on our feet again.  The last pocket of homes were lit last night as twelve trucks engaged in frenetic activity through yesterday planting poles, stringing wire, etc.  A small handful of single homes were being electrified this morning, and some still await phone service, but for all intents and purposes, we are over the crisis.

And now, onto the clean-up.  We will issue an email next week regarding debris removal once we finalize a strategy. The current assumption is that we will be chipping most branches and keeping the resulting mulch locally.  We will identify a location where the chipped branch mulch will be stored and will urge residents to come by and grab as much as you can haul for your own garden work.  So do your own wallet, the environment, and the village a favor and don't buy any bark chip or mulch at Stew Leonard's or Home Depot this weekend, since you can likely get this for free from the village.

Again, we thank everyone for their patience and forbearance shown during this period.  There are thanks also due those who went above and beyond: the volunteers from our fire companies, the police who handled record calls, the DPW for their services. (We hope we can put together something a little later in April to express our thanks more properly.). If you ever wanted to see visible evidence of the advantages of living in a close-knit small town,  these past few weeks, as we rode out two storms, provided it.

Enjoy your Saturday tomorrow: it will stand in sharp contrast to last weekend, that's for sure.
