Update on storm aftermatch - 10PM Monday night
Residents;

Con Edison crews descended on Hastings in force today and made substantial progress. All major and through roads have been opened, and two roads that remain blockedt are in the process of being cleared (Garland and Glenn Place) and should be open by tomorrow afternoon.   The Library has been patched and is open for business as well. The schools are all powered up and open tomorrow too, much to the chagrin (I am sure) of children everywhere.

While a majority of the homes that were without power are now back on line, a number of our residents face a fourth day without power tomorrow.  Con Edison has stationed a full-time liaison at the Police Department, and he is coordinating the remaining work, finishing up bringing the remaining residents back up.  Con Edison reported that over 1600 customers in Hastings were without power on Saturday and this is now down to 600.  (These seem like high numbers but were what Con Edison provided us tonight.)  Con Edison has stated that all power will be restored throughout the service area by Friday. We certainly hope that this is a safe date they are setting and that service is restored much faster than that.

There are still plenty of unsafe conditions – where broken branches or trees are resting on wires and still pose a hazard should they give way.   Be careful to watch for these conditions, and remember to please keep an eye on your more fragile neighbors.

Garbage rmeoval returns tomorrow. Remember that Monday's garbage is being removed tomorrow and Tuesday's is being removed Wednesday.  Thank you for your patience and forbearance.  We had remarkably unusual bad fortune with two huge storms within two weeks. Let’s hope and pray that the spring ahead is more seasonal.
