The Caregiver Support Group will not be meeting in August and resume in September

NEW SHOPPING SCHEDULE
The Wednesday scheduled shopping trips will now alternate between Central Avenue (Kohl’s Pathmark, Best Buys...) on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday and Greenburgh (K-mart, Home Goods, A&P, Modells…) on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday.  During months where there is a 5th Wednesday, the bus will go to downtown White Plains (Target, Galleria…)

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED FOR FISH
If you can offer your time as little as one morning or afternoon a month to help transport elder residents to medical appointments in Westchester please contact Nancy Balaban at 478-0688 (leave a message.) “Friends In Service Helping” has been serving our community for over 40 years. and needs volunteer drivers to keep offering this valuable service.  Please consider volunteering, the rewards are great and the time commitment is minimal.

COUNTY SPONSORED POOL PARTY
Westchester County Senior Services is sponsoring a Pool Party at Saxon Woods Pool, in White Plains on June 16th from 10:00 -3:00PM, lunches must be ordered by June 4th call 813-6380 or 813-6423 suggested donation for senior or child guest fee is $4.00.

DISCOUNT THURSDAYS IN TOWN
Many of our Chamber of Commerce Members are offering substantial savings to people 62 and over who shop in the village on Thursdays.  Transportation can be arranged from resident homes to the Community Center on Main Street Thursday afternoons.  For a complete list of merchants and services contact Senior Outreach or come by the Community Center and pick up a list.

ACCESS TO HOME PROGRAM
Family Service Society of Yonkers is proud to introduce this new program for Westchester homeowners and renters that will build home adaptations and alterations to make your home more accessible:  Projects include Kitchen and bathroom alterations, access modifications, wheelchair ramps, widen doorways.  Construction is free for qualified disabled and elderly county residents.  For more information please contact

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LITERACY PROGRAM AT THE ANDRUS CHILDREN’S HOME
~ Looking for Mature Adults to read one on one with students for at least 1 hour per week. Please contact  Randee Ginsberg 423-5009

TRANSPORT CHAIRS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE
The village has a transport chair (compact foldable wheelchair for pushing only) available to borrow for residents.  If you would like to use it please contact Senior Outreach.  Also available are walker, commode, and various crutches.
