General Information for the 2011 Summer Camp Season
Registration Information
All camp registration begins on Monday, April 4 at 9 a.m. The period from April 4 until April 29 is the early bird registration period. Beginning on Monday, May 2, the regular registration period begins, and continues until May 31. All registrations after May 31 are considered "late" and are allowed to register if space allows.
No registrations are allowed through the mail; all registrations must be done IN-PERSON at the James Harmon Community Center, 44 Main Street, Hastings-on-Hudson.
Residency Information
All campers are required to be Hastings-on-Hudson village residents or attend the Hastings-on-Hudson school district.
Counselor-Camper Ratio
The camps pride themselves on their very low counselor to camper ratio. The ratio for counselor to child is kept at 1:5 in each group. By keeping the groups at this ratio, it allows for your child to get to know his or her counselor and build a relationship with them, as well as with the other campers in their group.
Immunization Information
All campers are required to present documentation that shows the dates of innoculation. If your child is not immunized because of religious beliefs, a letter stating such is required to be kept on file. All immunizations are required to be handed in with the camp application.
Placement in Camp Groups
If you would like your child to be placed in a group with another camper, it must be written on the registration form when submitted. After the groups are made, there can be no changes made. Please limit requests to one camper; we will do our best to honor all requests, but cannot guarentee that all requests will be honored.
Food Requirements
Campers are required to bring their own lunch. It is recommended that a cold pack be included in a knapsack or lunch box so that food does not spoil. Perishable items should be avoided.
Clothing Requirements
Each camper should have a swimsuit and towel with him or her each day. Parents are asked to listen to weather reports and provide campers with appropriate clothing. Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Indoor activities are planned for rainy days. Please label everything your child wears or brings to camp.
Emergency Contact Information
All campers are required to have an emergency contact other than the parent(s) who can be contacted in an emergency if no contact can be established with the parent(s). The emergency contact is prefered to be a family member who is within a close distance to Hastings-on-Hudson.
Minimum Enrollment
All campers are required to enroll in a camp for a minimum of two weeks or more. If there is a pressing reason while you cannot enroll for two weeks, you may present your case in writing to the camp director, Lisa O'Reilly, who will review it and make a decision.
Camp Trips
All campers have the opportunity to go on two camp trips each season. First through Third graders go on trips the second and fourth weeks, while Fourth through Eighth graders go on trips the third and fifth weeks. Previous trip locations have included New Roc City, Sportime USA, Yankee Stadium, White Plains Bowl and more!
