On June 15, 2009, the committee's consultants, Phillips Preiss Shapiro Associates held a second public meeting to solicit community input in the comprehensive planning process. Over 30 residents attended and discussed these topics: Reducing Carbon Footprint, Protection of Natural Resources, Maintaining and Upgrading Infrastructure, Protection of Community Character and Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development. Among the subtopics were: affordable housing, historic preservation, tax rateables, streets, sidewalks, biking, downtown car and people traffic, storm water, water efficiency and natural resource zoning.
The committee will be working over the summer to develop implementation strategies and a timeframe to reach our goals. The community is invited to join the comprehensive plan committee as we work toward crafting a plan for the village's future.
Please find the handouts from the Comprehensive Plan Committee's community discussion on Sidewalks, Trails, Intersections and Traffic here, here, and here. The handouts indicate the problem areas as discussed in previous plans and community comments from comprehensive plan meetings or blog posts. Please find the agenda from the discussion at this link. The committee would appreciate any additional thoughts or comments.
