To all our Hastings neighbors and friends,
Family-to-Family is looking for a few great volunteers to help us launch a new local food drive effort!
The pantries are running very low in HoH and DF and the need seems to be growing greater every day!
So.....we came up with what we feel will be a truly easy, low cost way for all of us to help.
The idea is to engage as many of us as possible each month in an effort to feed our hungry neighbors and we're calling it: The Door Knob Dinner Project!
We're planning on engaging HoH and DF families (who we will call Door Knob Dinner Donors) in an effort to provide groceries for 1 dinner meal each month for a family of 5 .
We'll ask our Door Knob Dinner Donors to shop for a specific list of groceries each month which will provide a simple dinner for a family of 5: (e.g. 2 boxes of pasta, 2 jars of sauce, a fresh vegetable and a bread, or rice and beans, a fresh vegetable and a fresh fruit, or canned tuna, carrots, small mayo, sliced whole grain bread, etc. etc.).
We'll then ask our donors to hang their groceries on the outside door knob of their home to be be collected by our neighborhood volunteer coordinator who will then bring the bags to the HoH and DF pantries!
As of now the thought is to do this collection on the 3rd Sat. of each month.
We need a few volunteers to jump on board and help us get this up and running! We especially want our kids to be a part of this too!!
If you have some time to spare shoot us an email here at F-to-F...we're hoping to schedule a planning meeting sometime in the next 2 weeks.
Please do share this with your local friends and neighbors.....and let's Share Our Bounty!
