Spring is finally here and its time to think of warm sunshine and flowers, and plants for your home and/or business.
The Friends of Charlie has sponsored an annual plant sale at the Admiral Farragut American Legion Post since 2006 at 215 Farragut Avenue. We would like to encourage you to purchase your flowers form us this spring, while at the same time helping this worthy cause. The proceeds from this sale go directly to a scholarship fund for Hastings High School students. The scholarships are given annually to 3 graduating seniors who best exemplify Charlie Murray’s commitment to community service, the environment, and just being a good neighbor.
Please stop by our plant sale on Saturday April 30th from 10am-3pm. It would be a wonderful way to help out this worthy cause and to pay tribute to the spirit of Charlie. We have many beautiful hanging baskets, flats and containers for sale. You’ll really be giving while you are also receiving!
Friends of Charlie is a non profit educational foundation which disperses money to Hastings High School. This will be the 5th year that we will be handing out scholarships to deserving high school seniors. The foundation was created in memory of Charlie Murray, a lifelong resident of Hastings, who worked for the Village of Hastings, was a dedicated member of our volunteer Fire Department, and who also had his business located here in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
If you can not make it to the plant sale and would like to make a tax deductible donation, you can write a check payable to Friends of Charlie and mail c/o Barbara Sansverie, 46 Maple Avenue Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. 10706. Checks/cash donations can also be left at Suburban Renewal, 1 Main Street, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
