CELEBRATE POEM IN YOUR POCKET DAY,
WITH THE VILLAGE ARTS COMMISSION AT THE HASTINGS STATION CAFÉ
AT THE METRO NORTH TRAIN STATION
THURSDAY, APRIL 14
The Hastings Village Arts Commission will distribute poems at the Hastings Station Café at the Metro North train station during the morning rush hour on Thursday, April 14, designated by the Academy of American Poets (AAP) as national Poem in Your Pocket Day.
According to the AAP, Poem in Your Pocket Day “celebrates poetry and highlights the power of poetry as a creative and emotional tool to increase literacy and allow adults and children alike to express themselves.”
The concept is straightforward. “Select a poem you like, and then carry it with you to share with family, friends or co-workers,” explains Nancy DeNatale, chairperson of the Commission.
“If you don’t have one, we’ll hand one to you,” she adds.
