REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
from
SCULPTORS AND CURATORS OF SCULPTURE!

We are currently seeking proposals for April, 20011 installations. Proposals are due March 31.

Going forward these installations will be rotated every April, August and November.
Hastings-on-Hudson has a long history of artists living and working here and the Hastings-on-Hudson Village Arts Commission (HVAC) wants to bring this aesthetic presence into the everyday experience of residents.
Hastings-on-Hudson's Public Art Program / Rotating Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit is designed to stimulate community-wide interest and participation in the arts through a rotating series of juried installations at four venues throughout the village:
•       Fulton Park in front of the Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library
•       the front yard of James V. Harmon Community Center
•       VFW Park at the top of Spring Street
•       the mailbox island in Maple Avenue near the train station.
The four sites can be filled with work from one artist, or a different artist for each site.
To reinforce Hastings residents' interaction and participation, the three-to-five-month installations are often accompanied by events with the artists open to the general public. These could be workshops with village or school groups, walking tours, discussion forums on relevant topics, compilations in book form of the public's interaction with the installation, performances, multimedia events, etc.
Artists and Curators interested in proposing an installation for April 2011 are asked to complete this form by March 31, 2011.
