Design Guidelines for the Central Commercial District are now in place. The guidelines were adopted by the Board of Trustees at their Feb. 15, 2011 meeting upon the recommendation of the Architectural Review Board. All renovation and new construction proposed in the Central Commercial District will require compliance with these guidelines. The Hastings Design Guidelines Committee, consisting of architects, designers, and other volunteers from the community, devoted many hours to creating user-friendly regulations to help ensure positive growth in the downtown. The guidelines describe the community’s aesthetic goals and the important elements that define the character of the downtown.
