Dear Chamber Community,
Since taking over as President of the Hastings on Hudson Chamber of Commerce in September, I have not been idle. I have examined every aspect of our organization and have set about redesigning it from the ground up. The work is underway and includes:
• Having a new logo, brand and website designed.
• Sponsoring improvements to the VFW Park on Warburton Avenue, which include new plants and trees, public seating areas, tables, chairs and benches, and a gazebo gifted to the Village.
• Establishing the Chamber as a community-based and networking organization.
• Forming a marketing and advertising think-tank to put a plan together for 2011 with the goal of increasing visitors to Hastings.
• Working closely with the new Rivertowns Tourism Board.
One of the most exciting pieces of news to share is that the Chamber is now offering access to group health insurance! Unlike an employer-based plan, where an employee usually has only one plan to choose from, we are offering 10 policies from which to choose!
Having group health insurance policies available to Chamber members is a very big deal, considering how many people are without coverage. To buy medical insurance on the private market is quite expensive. We offer more choices, lower and competitive rates and the help of a very experienced brokerage firm, Newhouse Financial and Insurance Brokers. The policies are available to anyone living in New York State, businesses and individuals, which means we can draw members from anywhere in the state. We are still putting all the details in place and have set a presentation date where the details of the policies and Chamber membership will be fully explained.
