- For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $68 stays in the local economy compared to only $43 if spent at a chain store.
- If each household redirected just $100 of planned holiday spending from chain stores to locally owned merchants, the local economic impact could reach $10 million!
- Locally owned businesses contribute more to local charities, fundraisers and sports teams than do national chains.
- Local, independently owned shops offer better customer service than large 'box' retailers - extended holiday hours, layaway, gift wrapping, delivery.
