DECEMBER TAX REMINDER
Second half 2010-11 Village property taxes are now due. Because Village offices are closed on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 in observance of New Year’s Day, taxes will be payable without penalty IN PERSON until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011. Regular office hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Please note that the Post Office IS OPEN on December 31, so MAILED taxes must have a postmark no later than December 31, 2010. Payments bearing a United States Postal Service postmark later than December 31 will be assessed a penalty as required by New York State law. Payments in envelopes arriving after December 31 without a USPS postmark will also receive a penalty.
If mailing taxes at the end of the month, please make certain that you witness the official USPS postmark being affixed to the envelope by the postal clerk. Do not drop your payment into a mailbox on December 31 - it may not be postmarked on that date!
