IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN THE EXCITING WORLD OF SCOUTING!
Open Event – Draper Park, Saturday June 26, 3pm to 5pm.
CUB SCOUTING is for boys in Grades 1-5. Cub scouting is fun and family- oriented. In Pack 1 Hastings, parents take an active role in the program with leadership being selected from the parents of the boys. Boys meet in grade-level 'dens' and also assemble in 'pack'-wide events. (First graders require a parent or guardian at meetings.) Siblings and the entire family are welcome to come and join us for the pack-wide events and fun.
ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR INCLUDE:
Monthly pack meetings
Pinewood Derby race
Den meetings/outings
Family camping weekend
Bowl-o-ree
Advancement and awards
Pack outings/special trips
Cabin and tent camping
Community service projects
Thunderbird games
Scout days at different parks and venues
Blue and Gold dinner
For older boys, Boy Scout Troop 2 Hastings was established on or before 1912 and was first chartered in 1915. We have troop meetings on three Tuesdays of each month from 7:30-9:00 pm and plan at least one outdoor activity per month. Boy Scouts are open to young men 11 through 17 years of age.
Troop 2 is a boy-led troop. Adult Leaders guide and support the boys. Our program focuses on the outdoors. Join us to camp (tent and cabin), hike, bike, cook, ski, canoe, white water raft, backpack while learning about citizenship, leadership, first aid and life safety skills - all while enjoying the adventure that is Scouting.
Join Troop 2 Hastings during June and be able to attend an exciting and affordable summer camp at Camp Read in Brant Lake, NY. The Troop camps as a unit for two weeks at Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondacks. Earn rank requirements and merit badges like archery, rifle shooting (12 and over), horsemanship, leatherwork and a whole lot more while having fun. Do rock climbing indoor and outdoor, zip line, low COPE, water rafting with the troop. Learn about citizenship, leadership, first aid and life safety skills and more while enjoying the adventure that is Scouting. Scouts advance in rank by providing leadership to other scouts while earning merit badges that teach skills like swimming, fire starting, first aid, safe use of knives and axes and other useful and exciting stuff.
