Riverfront Dance Party to Benefit Family-to-Family
The national hunger relief organization Family-to-Family is holding its first ever fundraising party on Saturday June 19th from 5:30-8:30pm at the spectacular riverfront home of Susan Rutman. Proceeds will benefit Family-to-Family’s efforts to provide groceries for struggling American families in 17 U.S. communities. Enjoy dancing and live music by The Bloomingfields, wine, exotic beers, & hors d’oeuvres… as well as a raffle and silent auction that includes a week at a fabulous Colorado ranch.
Guests are invited to bring a bag of groceries filled with dinner type foods (non perishable and no glass please!) which Family-to-Family will distribute to families in need in Hastings-on-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry.

Family-to-Family was founded by Hastings resident Pam Koner and has grown from a program that helped 17 impoverished families in Pembroke, Illinois in 2002 to one that helps 450 families nationwide today. Each donor family in the program is matched with a family in need from another part of the country, and either sends a monthly box of food to “their” family or donates funds each month which F-to-F uses to purchase groceries locally for that sponsored family. Linked families exchange letters or emails, creating a personal connection.
Family-to-Family also offers a birthday buddies program, in which children can make small boxes filled with birthday goodies for a child in need, a “Books for Life” gently used book donation program and a Victory Garden project, in which donors purchase a kit that contains everything needed to start a vegetable garden… a way to help families without enough food to grow some of their own. Eggs are in the mix too… 10 egg- laying chickens are provided to every family so a hearty breakfast is available to all.
