Everyone should have received a census form by now. It should take you less than ten minutes to complete the form and mail it in. An accurate census is important for all sorts of reasons. It determines our representation in Congress. But it also determines how the Federal, State, and County governments allocate federal budgets, state aid, and county monies. Things like our portion of the sales tax, mortgage tax and numeorus other revenue sources we, as a village, receive. In fact, this comes to over $200 a family each year for our village alone (and even more when you count money allocated to the County and State). When you add this up over the ten years before the next census is taken, this comes to over $2,000 per family. A lot of money indeed that we don't have to raise by increasing village
taxes.
So, please pull the form out of your in-basket and just complete it now. Be counted so we can all be fully funded and represented.
