SCOUTS FOR SURVIVAL DAY - Saturday, March 20th 9:30am-11:00am Community Center
SCOUTS FOR SURVIVAL DAY

With the local conditions we have had this winter and the natural disasters that have occurred in the world, it is a perfect time to share our motto…”Be prepared.”  The Hastings Girl Scouts invites the community to join them for an educational series of demonstrations and displays at their Scouts For Survival Day….

               Saturday, March 20th
               9:30am – 11:00am
               James Harmon Community Center

This FREE family event will teach residents how to prepare for emergencies and use key survival skills should disaster strike.  There will be activity stations that allow our visitors to try their hand at making an emergency shelter with nothing more than tarp and twine, purify water samples from the Hudson River and Sugar Pond, use signaling techniques to increase your chance of survival as well as informational displays that show you what should be in an emergency preparedness kit for your home, and how best to prepare your pets for an emergency.

Scouts have long since had a tradition of honing these skills as a part of their program.  Come, let us share with you what we’ve learned.

Note:  Space restrictions prohibit us from accepting any camping gear donations for Haiti families at this location.  To schedule a donation pickup from your home, please contact AngelaReeve@optonline.net.
