Friday Night Live Returns - Friday, March 5
Fellow residents,

After the past few difficult stormy days, it is an absolute pleasure to share some happy news with everyone. This Friday, Hastings "Friday Night Live" returns for the 2010 season and it is better than ever.

(The schedule is here and it is amazing: www.rivertownsguide.com/fnl) These events are a great opportunity to celebrate our town, see your friends and neighbors, have some fun, and support the local merchants.

After being buried under a blanket of snow for the last few days, it will be a welcome night out. There's so much to do, hear, experience that the best plan is to make a night of it: start at 6PM, go to some events, have a meal, do some shopping, attend some more events. The price couldn't be better (almost all events are free) and the quality and fun factor is excellent.

The theme is literature/poetry and there are many fantastic events for everyone to enjoy (schedule here: www.rivertownsguide.com/fnl)
including:
- a youth "poetry slam" at Slices: hosted by Zork the slam master for Westchester's only nationally certified slam (7:30 - 8:30, ages 5-20)
- Book and poetry readings at Juniper (6:30), Suburban Renewal (7:30-8:30), Human Body Works (6:00PM onwards), Station Café (7PM), and Galapagos Books (7PM onwards)
- A town-wide poetry contest: Winners will be announced at Rain Water Grill at 7:30
- Music at Indigo (from 5PM-9PM)
- a poetry slam at River Roadhouse, also hosted by Zork (8:30 over 21 only))
- And, the very successful Common Ground Downtown concert series returns with a show by Catherine Russell with Mark Shane at the Community Center at 8:30.  http://commongroundfusw.com/2009/08/25/catrussell/

Most importantly, several of the local merchants will be open late and offering specials. Please be sure to stop by and see what they have to offer.
So please, come on down and enjoy the fun this Friday. Support town and support the merchants. It's been pretty cold and miserable.
Time to shake off the winter blues and enjoy yourself. We all deserve it.
Peter
